Reframed

Where parents get their story back.

Reframed is the essay and op-ed wing of Project IMAGE — a place where we rewrite the stories that have been told about parents, and replace them with stories told by parents.

Here, we challenge the default narratives: the “deadbeat dad,” the “hysterical mom,” the “broken family saved by the system.” Instead, we explore what actually happens inside homes, courtrooms, clinics, and classrooms — and how love, resilience, and truth survive even when the system doesn’t.

Reframed features:

  • First-person narratives from mothers, fathers, and families
  • Deep-dive essays on bias, stigma, and erasure
  • Thought pieces on culture, policy, and what “a good parent” really means

This is where we take the script back.
One story at a time.

When the Courts Catch Up: The Reckoning Over Medical Decisions Made for Children

A California jury awarded $2 million to Fox Varian, finding malpractice in a double mastectomy performed at 16. This ruling has catalyzed a national debate over minors’ medical consent, scrutinizing the responsibilities of professionals and institutions. It raises significant questions about parental rights and accountability in life-altering medical decisions for children.

When a Parent Acts to Protect: A North Carolina Case of Accountability, Separation, and Rebuilding

Sarah Taylor filed for divorce from her husband, Justin Tawse Brigham, following his arrest on serious felony charges related to alleged sexual crimes against a minor. The divorce reflects Taylor’s immediate decision to protect their child and stabilize their lives, while restructuring her business, formerly Sycamore Brewing, now Club West Brewing, to move forward independently.

THE IMAGE OF A PARENT: How America Learned to See Families Wrong

Project IMAGE addresses the pervasive cultural narratives around parenting in America, which often misrepresent fathers and mothers, affecting judicial outcomes and societal perception. The initiative aims to reshape these narratives by telling authentic stories, highlighting the complexities of parental experiences, and advocating for a justice system that recognizes the true realities of families.
